Serving as Samuel

Our children’s ministry comes alongside parents to encourage them in training their children in the “way they should go”.  Realizing their sin, committing to Christ, being filled with the Holy Spirit, and serving with their gifts, are all part of our journey together.  We believe the life of young Samuel gives us a solid structure upon which we teach our children to relish being set aside for His service, for His glory.

“…the boy ministered before the Lord under Eli.”  1 Sam 2:1

Submitting to leadership helps children step out in their gifts, one baby-step at a time.  Children may look cute to us, but they are not to the enemy because they are being grounded and equipped to serve their Lord.

“This sin of the young men was very great in the Lord’s sight, for they were treating the Lord’s offering with contempt.   But Samuel was ministering before the Lord.”  1 Sam 2:17, 18

We encourage our children to be bold for righteousness in their neighborhoods and schools.  Be an example! No matter what is going on around you.  Stay strong! No matter what is going on around you.

“Meanwhile the boy grew up in the presence of the Lord.”  1 Sam 2:21

We offer a variety of activities in which children can be involved that will strengthen their walks with the Lord Jesus.  In the midst of the fun, they will be stretched to seek His purpose for their lives.

“And the boy Samuel continued to grow in favor with the Lord and men.” 1 Sam 2:26

If Jesus is the focus of our lives, we should be pleasant to be around!  Dependable.  Putting others first.  We encourage children to be ambassadors for Christ and maintain a reputation that reflects Him in us.

“In those days the Word of the Lord was rare, there were not many visions.”  1 Sam 3:1

Our children rub shoulders with other kids who do not think this world offers much hope.  This generation of unchurched children is desperate to have friends who are spiritually-wired and ready to minister.  We encourage children to share their words, dreams and visions so the compassion of Jesus can flow to others.

“ ‘But I did not call,’ said Eli.”  So he went back and lay down.” 1 Sam 3:5

The more time we spend with children, the more convinced we are that they often “get” what the big folks miss.  We pay close attention to young hearts and minds knowing full well, that quite often, we are the ones on the learning end.

“The Lord was with Samuel as he grew up and let none of his words fall to the ground.”  1 Sam 3:19

Godly grounding.  It starts at home.  The decisions and choices that parents make for their children will be the foundation for a spiritual life that prayerfully, will bear much fruit.  The balance of the activities that parents support will be the foundation of priorities that will surface in their children’s adult lives.

What a privilege that we are invited to be a small part of your family’s journey with the Lord.  We invite you to look through our site and get to know our children, volunteers and programs at Living Waters Church.
