Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'

The Emmaus Road

An old friend gave this advice, when I told him where I'd been.
How things had not gone so well, sometimes my faith grew dim.

He said, Once two men were on the Emmaus road,
   discouraged and alone,
When Jesus appeared and talked with them,
though He didn't make Himself known.

He spoke words of comfort, things God's Word had shown.
Though the way looks dark sometimes, we are not alone.

In the darkest hours we walk through, when we feel so alone.
Perhaps we failed or just fell short, remember the Victory is won.

So we, like they, walk down the road, remember Jesus is near.
Though we can't see Him face to face, He said to never fear.

He is as close as the air we breathe, and His Spirit has the power,
To help us stand when we're alone, or in our darkest hour.

I took some comfort from his words, and somehow it wasn't so bad.
Mountains still stood in my way, but I wasn't nearly as sad.

So dear brother, dear sister, take heart and have faith
Jesus is on the road with us, though we can't see His Face.
