I’ve heard its rattle in the rustling leaves and seen it toss the skies,
Or blow the dust from a country road, felt it light as a grateful sigh.
I’ve been kissed by snowflakes, its flung, peppered by raindrops splatter,
Seen whirlwinds dance and die, their dust to suddenly scatter.
On a winter’s day it has raged to pass an icy sting,
Caught children’s laughter far away, brought it to me clear as a bell rings
Its mystery has puzzled me often as I thought from where it comes,
Like God’s Great Spirit, the wind tells a story if only fools stop to listen, I’m one.
