I’ve heard sermons countless, scolding Peter’s lack of faith.
When he bid Jesus ask him to walk upon the waves.
As I grew and read my Bible, the story somehow changed,
I saw something else, as they walked those waves.
I saw a simple, fisherman, a man like you and me,
Who with faith’s Holy Boldness, climbed out to walk the sea.
I know not how far he traveled, the Bible doesn’t say,
Just that Jesus caught him before he slipped beneath the waves.
To some Peter was a failure, but to me, he gets a champion’s vote.
For he was the only disciple who ever left the boat.
As you examine your life daily, try to remember this quote,
Lord, please give me courage and strength…. To get out of the boat.
