Dear Friends,
It is time to post our volunteer list for parents of children in Crossroads. We need your help during our services and this is a great time for you to see exactly what goes on in our little corner of the world.
On the week that is yours to serve, you need to be at the registration table at 10:00 a.m. in order to place wristbands on the children. A Kids!Lead member may help, but at least one adult needs to be at the table with them.
If you run out of wristbands, they are in Marti’s office in the top right drawer of the Tupperware dresser under her desk.
At the registration desk in the hall, the wristband containers are labeled differently according to the day of the service. Please turn the correct day to be facing you. Parents should not have to be concerned with the containers if you are there to greet them and band their child.
Before the special offering music is over, it is your responsibility to be at the registration table so that children who came to church late can get their wristbands before going to class.
During the Crossroads service, there are larger black chairs upon which you can sit. They will be placed so that you are interspersed with the children. Please do not hesitate to separate children who consistently talk. It is better for you to gently move them than for me to have to stop the service to correct the situation. When I have to do it, it blows the situation out of proportion because then everyone in the room knows what’s going on. I do not want to embarrass a child in front of the group.
When a child needs to go to the bathroom, there needs to be an adult who takes them and stays in the hall. Smaller children may need your assistance in the bathroom but for this age group, they usually do not.
WHEN IT IS YOUR WEEK TO BE IN CROSSROADS, I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO BE A PART OF THE SERVICE IN THIS RESPECT: There’s an old adage, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I would like for you to share your testimony, a story, something that would help the kids make a connection with you. We never know how our words may touch a child’s life now and later. I will call you two weeks before your date to help you with this.
DO NOT LET THIS FREAK YOU OUT. IT IS A VERY NATURAL THING WHEN IT COMES FROM OUR HEARTS AND THE KIDS ARE TOTALLY RESECTIVE TO THIS.
Please be in the hall to check wristbands as parents come to pick up their children.
Thank you for your willingness to help us.
Miss Marti
